IDI produces dance materials related to Jewish Festivals and educational topics (e.g. the environment, peace, Jerusalem – the holy city, Respect and Dignity, Dancing the Songs, Colours of Israel, Bereishit - Creation) as well as general materials for use by folk dance teachers.
Workshops and Courses
IDI runs both occasional weekend workshops (not on Shabbat) and the Machol Europa summer course, which provides an opportunity for teachers and enthusiasts from the UK and more than 20 countries worldwide to come and learn together and share their passion for Israeli dance. IDI also runs INSET (In-service Training) for school teachers.
Performances
IDI sponsors Israeli Dance performing troupes – Oranim, Alonim, Nitzanim & Nevatim – which perform at many inter-faith and multi-cultural events as well as at functions for the Jewish community. These troupes provide a community outreach function, introducing many thousands of people each year to the vibrant nature of Israeli and Jewish dance.
